Emetropia announce new EP “An Acoustic Endeavor”

Almost a year has passed since the release of Equinox. Today we proudly present information and artwork for our new EP An Acoustic Endeavor, set to be released on the 24th of March.

An Acoustic Endeavor features four acoustic versions of the most beloved songs from Equinox.

“We saw this as a chance to push our musical and production skills to the limit by recording symphonic metal songs in musical styles we had never played before! It became something of an acoustic endeavor for all of us; scary yet intriguing.” explains keyboardist Liam.

The single The Old Gods – Requiem will be released on the 23rd of February—the anniversary of Equinox—together with a music video.

Vocalist Lisa explains how the requiem version of the song differentiates from the album version:

“We wanted the EP versions to be something new and original, and not simply the same song with acoustic guitars. While the original song is fast and energetic, the lyrics tell a despairing story of never ending suffering, and thus, we felt that a ballad was the perfect fit for The Old Gods. The result is a solemn and mournful, yet beautiful, retelling.“

Tracklist for An Acoustic Endeavor:

  1. A Gentle Breeze
  2. The First Flower Blooms
  3. The Old Gods – Requiem
  4. Shifting Seasons

Emetropia’s debut album EQUINOX is finally available worldwide!

As a concept album, our vocalist and lyricist Lisa explains the Equinox Saga: ”Equinox is a story about a small boy who finds himself captivated by a story told by the fireplace at night. In this tale, the kings of Summer and Winter rage a never-ending battle for the throne. Saddened by the fact that they are trapped in a cycle of bloodshed and suffering, the boy sets out to convince the Fey King and Frost King to make peace. However, while the Great Wheel turns, can it ever stop spinning?”

After half a decade of songwriting and developing as musicians, we’ve finally completed an album that sounds just like we envisioned it. There will be straight forward power metal, there will be mind-boggling progressive metal, and there will be bombastic symphonic metal over the course of its 53 minute run time! In the end, Equinox provides listeners with nine diverse and unique songs, all displaying the different sides of Emetropia to look forward to. We can’t wait to finally unveil the complete Equinox Saga”.

“The First Leaf Falls” is out NOW on every major platform

Emetropia’s latest single The First Leaf Falls is now available to listen on every major streaming platform.

Their singer and lyricist Lisa Wallenberg reflects on what role the song plays in the telling of Equinox’ story: “You could say that The First Leaf Falls is the climax of the album’s second act. All the themes and concepts that have been introduced earlier sort of join together to form this grand epic, where the different characters finally meet and we see the two forces clash with each other. You clearly notice the tonal shifts as the song progresses, moving between mellow and aggressive before culminating in a triumphant climax. I think this is a song where the music tells the story as much as the lyrics do.”

Emetropia’s debut album “Equinox” will be released on the 23rd of February and will be celebrated with a release show at Palatset, Linköping together with the local power metal act Razor Attack.

Emetropia announce the new single “The First Leaf Falls”

Today we can proudly announce that our third and final single “The First Leaf Falls” will be released on the 19th of January.

Our singer and lyricist Lisa Wallenberg reflects on what role the song plays in the telling of Equinox’ story: “You could say that The First Leaf Falls is the climax of the album’s second act.

It is not only the story that changes tone, as our drummer Oscar Heikkinen elaborates: “The song has always been appreciated live, as it starts off as sort of a ballad but quickly evolves to something way more powerful and energetic. The First Leaf Falls is also the second longest song on the album, which gives us ample time to explore the different sides of Emetropia. Throughout the song, there’s everything from melancholic parts with some of Lisa’s greatest vocal performances accompanied by Liam at the piano to the fastest and most aggressive solo section anyone in the band has ever recorded!”

“Seasonal Warfare (Re-Imagined)” is out NOW on every major platform

Emetropia’s latest single Seasonal Warfare (Re-Imagined) is now available to listen on every major streaming platform.

As the opening song of the album, Seasonal Warfare sets the stage for the entire story. The band’s lead guitarist Olle describes the new single as unique. “On an album where most songs are fairly complex, Seasonal Warfare stands out as being structurally quite simple. As a prog metal fan, I tend to gravitate more towards the former, but sometimes it feels good to play a no-bullshit metal song with great energy and a catchy chorus. Liam’s orchestrations and Lisa’s amazing vocals really take this one to another level!”

Emetropia announce the new single “Seasonal Warfare (Re-Imagined)”

Today we are proud to announce that our second single Seasonal Warfare (Re-Imagined) will be released on Wednesday 17th of November. The song is the second single from our upcoming debut album Equinox which will be released in early 2022.

As the opening song of the album, Seasonal Warfare sets the stage for the entire story. According to Olle, our lead guitarist, the new single is unique.

The new single introduces a “re-imagined” label which will play an integral part in the upcoming debut album. Our keyboardist Liam elaborates on the unusual label:

“The re-imagined versions of our old EP-songs is the result of years of improvements as musicians but also as a band, which allowed us to record new versions that bring justice to what we originally envisioned. Everything from the individual studio performances to our production skills have reached another level. I truly believe that all of this makes the re-imagined versions sound like new songs”

The single will be accompanied with a music video which will be premiered in the South American webzine “Metal Addiction”.
